Overview:
The Psychiatrist will be responsible for psychiatric evaluation and development of comprehensive treatment plans, including pharmacotherapy, for patients with a wide-range of mental health conditions. The position will provide clinical consultation to other medical providers and staff regarding diagnostic workups and treatment interventions. The position will manage the psychiatric care of patients in multi-disciplinary collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to help patients achieve their health goals. The Psychiatrist will ensure that the patient care provided at AltaMed clinics is maintained at the highest levels of excellence and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and best practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide psychiatric care services for patients including- diagnostic evaluation, ordering and reviewing pertinent laboratory/imaging, developing treatment plan, prescribing medications, monitoring effectiveness of treatment plan, and referring to higher levels of care as needed.
  • Provide consultation to medical providers for medically and psychiatrically complex patients.
  • Recommend any treatment adjustments through the case review process or in consultations, including medication recommendations and other interventions.
  • Track patient follow up and clinical outcomes using a registry.
  • Serve on relevant committees and quality improvement projects.
  • Participate regularly in scheduled didactics (including, but not limited to: journal clubs, lectures, interdisciplinary conferences, workshops).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly work including continuing medical education.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must hold an active, valid and unrestricted license from the California Medical Board to practice as a Psychiatrist in the state of California.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited medical school and have completed of Psychiatry Residency at an accredited program.
  • Basic knowledge of local, state and federal regulations relating to care of patients in a clinic setting; familiarity with county, state and federal programs such as CHDP, Medi-Cal, Drug Medi-Cal.
