Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFK ADATC) in Black Mountain, NC. This Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric assessments and follow-up care. Consistently provides outstanding staff level psychiatric services and is frequently called upon to solve difficult psychiatric problems and to work on special projects. Work may include the guidance and review of work performed by other staff level physicians/physician extenders and may infrequently require fulfillment of the role of director of the work unit. Job responsibilities include: Evaluates patients for hospital admission and developing the preliminary treatment planConducts thorough bio/psycho/social psychiatric assessmentsMakes accurate diagnosis and provides evidence-based treatment Functions as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team Develops and approves treatment plans and reports at scheduled treatment teamsDocuments patient care rendered and patient progress toward achievement of identified goals according to hospital standardsCollaborates with other clinical and non-clinical personnel on campusProvides on-call services as requiredAssists hospital administration with implementing the JCAHO and CMS standards and hospital medical staff by-laws, rules, and regulations.The normal working hours are typically eight-hour shifts (8 AM-4:30 PM) Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend duties. The medical physician staff rotates being on call for which they receive an incentive compensation in addition to regular salary. This is a full-time position and eligible for full State benefits including health insurance and retirement. About the facility: The Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFK-ADATC) is comprised of a 30 bed Crisis Stabilization/Detox unit and a 38 bed Rehabilitation unit. JFK serves those individuals who reside in the western region of the State of North Carolina. JFK-ADATC is accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a behavioral health facility and is certified as a psychiatric hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). JFK-ADATC is designed to treat those substance dependent patients whose addiction is severe enough to warrant placement under the level 3.7 American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria, and/or those patients who are dually diagnosed (i.e. suffer from both a substance dependence and a co-morbid psychiatric diagnoses). Under single portal of entry agreements, patients are referred to JFK- ADATC by various managed care organizations (MCOs) located in the Western Region of NC. Upon discharge, all patients are referred back to the LME for continuation of their care. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following: Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency (or anticipated completion before job commencement)Board certified or eligibleExperience performing bio/psycho/social psychiatric assessments, evaluations and psychotropic medication management for adults, preferably in an inpatient settingExperience compiling clear and concise notes for patients; charts and maintaining appropriate clinical documentationExperience interpreting laboratory results, clinical data and information relative to the patient’s conditionMust be able to successfully maintain CPR and CPI certificationMANAGEMENT PREFERENCES: Professionalism in medical approach with excellent interpersonal skillsAbility to establish and maintain good working relationships with team members, non-clinical staff, patients and their families Board certified in Psychiatry. Training and/or experience in adult psychiatry and significant experience with chemical dependency patients.ASAM, ABAM or additional certification by ABP & N preferred, but can be obtained after employment with JFK begins.Experience in inpatient setting with medical management of detoxification and professional knowledge and management of patients on Methadone and Buprenorphine.

Licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
