Position: Purchasing Agent

Position Reports to the Purchasing Manager

Job Location: Corporate Office - 1718 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago, IL 60614

Job Type: Full-time

The Purchasing Agent works alongside the Purchasing Manager as a key member of the team to manage the product lifecycle from concept through obsolescence along with sourcing for new and existing products.

Responsibilities

• Product lifecycle management
• Sourcing for new and existing products
• Working with Purchasing in buying as needed on assigned vendors
• Providing all necessary information for decision making as it related to products
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of product workflows
• Assist in establishing task and product milestones during the development stage
• Monitor all phases of new product development and help to resolve roadblocks
• Works with Purchasing and Engineering teams to ensure deadlines are met
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of product samples for various purposes including testing, photography, and trade shows by working directly with vendors.
• Provide estimated launch dates for product families.
• Assist with cost analysis by analyzing product costs and identifying potential cost reductions
• Assist in the ongoing analysis of new product for optimal inventory levels
• Serve as a company-wide resource for product questions and information
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of price lists

• Must speak and write English proficiently.
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin, Cantonese or Taiwanese is a plus but not required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field
• 1-3 years of Product sourcing or management experience.
• 1 year of Purchasing or Supply Chain-related experience
• Lighting manufacturing experience a plus
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects and change management
• Ability to work with a cross-functional team without formal authority
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in manufacturing organizations which produce or assemble products
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
• Ability to read CAD drawings
• Prior experience with Epicor 9.0 or above, Oracle or other MRP systems.
