A large and expanding employer in the manufacturing arena is looking for a team-oriented purchasing and planning manager to join its growing team. This position could be worked either in Athens, OH, or at a sister site in Michigan. This person will be a core team member of the Supply Chain Department and will be working across departments to ensure that material supply and operating capacities are aligned to fulfill current and forecasted customer demand.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all purchasing/planning activities, from sales, inventory and operations planning through to uninterrupted supply of raw materials, OEM items and management of contract manufacturers and outside processors.
  • Responsible for indirect materials purchasing of Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) materials, project purchasing and services.
  • Ensures that the department operates effectively and in alignment with key business targets including supplier on-time delivery, working capital and materials productivity.
  • Mentor and lead a team of planning and purchasing professionals.
  • Establish, and continuously improve operational procedures for all planning/purchasing activities and drive overall productivity while ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure that Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning process is aligned to sales demand, new product introductions, and annual operating plan.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key supply partners, taking an active role in key supplier development, site-based sourcing requirements, and negotiations.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks to potential supply disruption.
  • Hold suppliers accountable for quality, delivery, and cost deliverables; driving root cause identification and corrective actions to address deficiencies.
  • In partnership with the Strategic Supply Chain team, create synergies which leverage opportunities aligned with customer and market needs.
  • Manage current procurement policies, procedures, and programs to identify areas for improvement to enhance organizational value and efficiency.
  • Measure and manage key process indicators that demonstrate and continuously improve the performance of the function: supplier OTD, payment terms extension, inventory/inventory turns, cost reduction, PPV.
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups and leaders to achieve departmental, site, and divisional objectives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Prepare for and present regular business reviews to senior leadership team.
  • Define, document, and communicate site level requirements to suppliers and global supply chain teams.

This is a direct-hire, full-time position looking to hire immediately. Pay is in the range of $90-120K per year, commensurate with qualifications. This employer offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:

  • Intermediate computer experience to include ERP System (preferably Infor) and Microsoft Office.
  • Prior program or project management and/or formal process improvement experience preferred.
  • Team player, problem solver, good coaching/teaching skills and can multi-task in a fast- paced environment. Proven managerial track record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skill.
  • 2-5 years of people management experience required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience with increased responsibility and complexity in Purchasing, Sourcing and/or Planning required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering or supply chain management preferred.
  • APICS, CPSM or equivalent certification.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
