Thalle Construction Co. Inc. (“Thalle”) is seeking a Purchasing Clerk. The Purchasing Clerk will report to the Project Manager and work closely with and support the operations team, interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located out of our office in Grand Rivers, Kentucky

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for responsibly evaluating suppliers and prices to determine best standards, dependability, and cost effectiveness on a large scale construction project .

  • Research and compare suppliers, goods, and services.
  • Complete RFQs for 3 quote submission to ensure accurate estimate of market value of supplies, goods, and services.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders.
  • Scheduling and verifying purchases and deliveries.
  • Maintain records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
  • Build positive long-term supplier relations.
  • Perform other related activities and duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Accounting or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience preferred.
  • Viewpoint experience preferred, or experience in similar accounting software applications.
  • Construction experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of accounting records.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly filing system, ensuring information is accessible to others.

  • Ability to self-manage work with little supervision
  • Attention to detail for consistent self-audit and audit of records.
  • Position will require proficient communication between project team and suppliers / vendors.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
