Overview:

We are honored to be retained by Tri-Lateral Sales, Inc. (TLS) in their search for a Purchasing Manager to oversee daily purchasing operations and to develop strategies for a growing Purchasing Department. This position is located at their Kansas City, Missouri location.

TLS is a family owned and operated business that specializes in packaging and shipping, janitorial and sanitation, disposable food service and safety supplies. TLS sells all over the Midwest and has access to over 60,000 quality products from top manufacturers. Their central locale also allows for lower delivery costs.
Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Review and process purchase orders for products, equipment and services.
  • Evaluate and manage vendor relations, negotiating contracts, prices, and timeliness.
  • Work to improve the purchasing process.
  • Hire and train new employees in the purchasing department.
  • Manage inventory control counts.
  • Support sales representatives and customer service department.
  • Attend trade shows to develop new strategies and stay up to date on market trends, specifically for paper and plastics products.
  • Perform cost analysis and benchmarking.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, supply chain management preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as purchasing manager or similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems. Experience with DDI Inform ERP preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply management.
  • Strong negotiation and critical skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with little management.
  • Available for minimal travel as needed.
