The Quality Assurance Engineer’s role is to develop and establish quality assurance standards and measures for all assigned projects. This will include writing and executing test plans (and later automated scripts) for tracking all defects and fixes in their team’s product/project development. The QA Engineer will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate developmental processes through careful testing and work with their teammates to achieve superior test coverage and confidence. Although duties will at first be primarily manual, the position will require the willingness and ability to learn automation in the long term.

Position & Responsibilities:

• Develop, execute, and maintain Quality Assurance measures and testing standards for new features and/or enhancements to existing features throughout their development/product life-cycles.
• Prepare and deliver reports and Jira Bug Tickets, that address and communicate any existing or potential trouble areas in systems and projects across the organization.
• Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and/or management.
• Analyze documentation and technical specifications for any assigned project in order to determine its intended functionality, and the test cases necessary within.
• Create and execute test plans that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications (If not already familiar, must be willing to become familiar with automated testing scripts and their creation/maintenance).
• Verify and revise quality assurance standards as needed.
• Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues.
• Be able to collaborate with development personnel in application testing: Such as load, unit, and acceptance testing methods. .
• Analyze teammate’s formal test results in order to discover and report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
• Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• College diploma or university degree in software engineering, computer science, or business administration; Or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years direct experience in a technical QA or testing role.
• Strong knowledge of testing best practices and methodologies.
• Extensive experience with core software applications, including Jira and client/server applications.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Good to have:

• Direct hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs (SQL Server required, DB2 a plus), automated testing tools, and/or reporting software (Python/Selenium experience preferred).
• Knowledge of Appium or other mobile automation testing frameworks.
