The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the supervision of the Spectrometer Technician, Operator, Nodularity Checker, and Process Auditor. This role will assure that all castings meet and exceed the specified mechanical and physical properties to shipment. This includes testing and documentation for certification for both production and sample parts.

The salary for this position is $75,000 per year.

What You'll Do:

  • Work on special projects and coordinate development of new systems in the metallurgical field
  • Responsible for the supervision of Spectrometer Technicians and Operators
  • Set Metallurgist parameters throughout process
  • Exhibit superior safety practices every day always evidenced by outstanding housekeeping
  • Accompany other FSC management, customers as they perform on site surveys
  • Responsible for a certain amount of auditing vendors, as directed by the Quality Manager
  • Audit incoming steel and other materials that are part of the iron composition
  • Verify the base iron charge and chemistry and audit the copper additions of the final iron
  • Responsible for operating and maintenance of the testing equipment
  • Perform audit of Molding Process Cards Metallurgical section, including follow-up on discrepancies
  • Responsible for the supervision of Nodularity Checker to ensure that all tapped nodular treatment ladles are tested for the minimum percent nodularity and those not conforming to the minimum standard are segregated for further testing and final disposition
  • Perform audits of iron pouring
  • Responsible for the supervision of the Process Auditor to ensure that the metallurgical measuring equipment used in manufacturing is checked at scheduled intervals
  • Exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail
  • Assist the quality department in utilizing statistical techniques in the Metallurgical, Melting and Iron Pouring Departments
  • Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures

What We Need from You:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science or Associate degree in Applied Science with five (5) years’ experience in Iron Foundry Quality or Process Control with metallurgical decision responsibility
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Iron Foundry Quality or Process Control position
