Summary: The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting Persimmon’s Motor Business facility at Tyngsborough, MA. with all aspects of Quality Engineering, including identifying, monitoring and analyzing KPIs, driving continuous improvements, and establishing Persimmon’s Quality Management System.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Ensure company’s QMS processes are established and followed at the facility
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators for motor manufacturing, and monitor, report and improve their trends
  • Participate in Design Reviews and help manufacturing developing Quality Control Plans
  • Help with risk assessment, such as through participation in Design and Process FMEA exercises

· Participate in internal audits and help with Management Review Meetings

  • Lead cross-functional investigations of customer-complaints and internal quality excursions, conduct root cause investigations, develop corrective action plans, and verify effectiveness
  • Establish mindset of “zero defect”

Skills Required:

  • Competence in various Quality Tools, especially 8-D, 5-why, fishbone, and Kepner-Tregoe
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of LEAN principles and 5S
  • Knowledge of six sigma principles; either green or black belt certification is a plus
  • Basic understanding of Mechanical (GD&T) & Electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of risk-based approach such as with DFMEA and PFMEA
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite of Products, especially Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and issues with minimal management intervention
  • Being able to adjust priorities with short notice in a fast-paced environment

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering position
  • Having worked under ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System environment
  • Proven leadership experience coordinating with cross-functional team within company
  • Experience in participating in internal audits

Education Required: BA/BS degree in engineering, physics, or related sciences
