Summary:
Oversee all inspection activities including incoming, in-process and final inspections to ensure final product meets all Company and Customer requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Perform inspection(s) of products to determine conformance to all specifications.
  • Utilize various measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gages and other hand held measuring devices for open set ups.
  • Use an Optical Comparator for measurement of parts and characteristics.
  • Use video measurement equipment to measure part dimensions.
  • Write programs for video measurement equipment based on parts and specification drawings.
  • Understand and perform to all current quality standards.
  • Prepare and update Company and Customer inspection records as required.
  • Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Understand and use concepts like absolute position, geometric tolerance and stack-up.
  • Use basic statistical techniques for evaluation of measurement data and trending.
  • Have a basic understanding of machining processes to support communications of findings to the production floor.
  • Train others on inspection techniques and tools.
  • Work closely with engineering to determine documentation and job requirements.
  • Perform safe operation of machines.
  • Accurately completes all required paperwork.
  • Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times.
  • General maintenance of machines as needed.
  • Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements.
  • Provide good feedback and promote good communication.
  • Promote and live company culture.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Requires great attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and specifications
  • Previous experience machining or programming required

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
