Position Summary

The Quality Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for maintaining and improving the quality system at our Plant City, FL Manufacturing plant. The plant currently employs 32 production associates on one shift. The Quality Manager cares about quality, and is safety conscious, dependable, detail-oriented, and works well with others in a team environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise on provisions to minimize quality issues

  • Develop and implement required quality documents

  • Perform regular process audits

  • Drive root cause and corrective actions – Must own and lead the quality process

  • Work with Engineering and Production to address any internal quality concerns and corrective actions

  • Prioritize quality improvement activities

  • Utilize quality improvement training, activities, and policies

  • Manage all documentation and reporting requirements for the quality system

  • Develop performance improvement targets for quality

  • Conduct customer surveys to solicit feedback

  • Perform statistical analysis and data analysis

  • Perform gage calibration, product testing, and maintain records.

  • Participate in quality audits

  • Demonstrates hands on mechanical capabilities, problem solving, leadership, conflict management, and team building skills in productive team environment

  • Develop reports of product conformance

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related field and 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in high-volume metal fabrication (e.g. forming, cutting, and welding). Automotive or transportation sector experience a plus.

Required Attributes

  • Experience working in organizational culture that employs Six Sigma, Toyota Production System, Kaizen or other lean manufacturing methodologies. ISO- or TS- experience highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and extended hours as necessary to support production needs.
  • Exceptional problem solving and decision-making abilities, including the application of statistical process control to manufacturing processes (e.g. control charts, gage R&R studies, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Ability to use basic hand and measurement tools.
  • Computer literate (MS Office, database, and statistical software).
  • Must have a can-do attitude combined with a high energy level.

Must have a state issued driver’s license that allows for driving without restrictions, except for restrictions related to physical or mental impairment(s) that do not prohibit successful job performance, including but not limited to restrictions pertaining to the requirement to wear glasses or contacts for visual correction.
