This individual will perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of records to assure that the quality of product, parts, or materials meets all standards of acceptability.

Job Duties
- Sets-up mechanical and/or metallurgical testing devices and apparatus in accordance with engineering specifications, established or standard procedures, or other special instructions.
- Mounts and secures models or integral components on test devices and processes test procedures in prescribed sequence.
- Notes and records performance data for evaluation. Calls attention to deviations or variations from required test specifications and instructions.
- Prepares reports of test data for evaluation. Makes constructive recommendations as to product performance, malfunctions, failures or breakdowns. Assists with technical analysis and evaluation of new or revised parts, materials, and products.
- Responds to procedural problems or technical questions by quality technicians or less experienced laboratory technicians with respect to quality, procedures, or test operations. Assists Laboratory Specialist in the preparation of layout drawings and schematic diagrams of mechanical testing devices.
- Performs test equipment maintenance, calibration, and testing, as required.
- Investigates new equipment or revision to existing equipment to better analyze materials, parts, or product.
- Proceeds with minimum supervision and direction on regular test assignments, working closely with other departments on test projects. Maintains data base and standard reports for material, parts, product or testing equipment documentation.
- Provides written and oral reports on a regular or ad hoc basis. All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
- Assumes additional related duties as assigned.
Specifications
- High school degree or equivalent plus additional formal training in metrology, metallurgy, or similar discipline.
- 5 years of experience in quality assurance, metrology, metallurgy or similar discipline.
- Microsoft Office proficiency. CMM programming proficiency (metrology lab only).
- Frequent standing, occasional walking or sitting.
- Occasional using of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
