Job description
The main purpose of the Shelter Housing supporter is to serve as a case manager for the shelter guests, connecting them with local community resources to fill both their immediate and future needs. The Shelter Housing supporter also supports daily functions of the shelter by coordinating volunteers, serving guests, and managing general operations. It is important that Shelter Housing supporter are compassionate and comfortable serving with diverse populations. They should also be excellent problems solvers and handle pressure well. The main purpose of the Emergency Food Coordinator is to manage the flow of food intake and outtake from the Food Bank. This entails providing families with food resources, assisting in harvesting programs, fundraising for food donations, supervising volunteers, and managing the general upkeep of the food bank. The AmeriCorps Emergency Food Coordinator will also assist the 15 other food banks in the San Luis Valley to distribute food throughout the Valley. This position requires the ability to transport donation boxes and harvested produce.



Member Duties : Case Management Responsibilities: - Lead new guests through intake process - Conduct initial interview with guests to evaluate their needs - Connect guest to medical, mental health, housing, education, transportation, and employment resources Shelter Management Responsibilities: - Resolve conflicts between guests & community members - Fulfill guests’ immediate needs by preparing and serving meals, and aiding their hygiene needs General Upkeep Responsibilities: - Managing food intake - Transporting donations from local stores and food drives - Distributing food to families during special distributions: Commodities and Thanksgiving - Coordinating food drop offs and pick-ups for outlying food banks - Ensuring procured food is stored properly and sorted as needed Food Drive Responsibilities: - Developing and maintaining relationships with food donors - Creating and implementing special events to raise awareness and materials for the Food Bank Network
