Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, New York is seeking a Per Diem Radiation Therapist who is looking to join a fast paced, forward thinking hospital.

Radiation Therapist:

• Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data
• Performs required quality assurance procedures and documents accordingly
• Reviews all set-up instructions, radiation prescriptions, consents, treatment plan, and any other documentation related to treatment delivery
• Visually monitors the patient during treatment
• Maintains licensure, registration, and certifications as required
• Works within the Practice Standards as defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists
• Explains treatment process to the client in a clear and concise manner that promotes understanding
• Answers any questions that the client may have which is within the scope of practice of the radiation therapist
• In charge of inventory and ordering of radiation supplies and equipment
• Oversee radiation CT simulation and positioning for new patient set ups
• Collaborate closely with radiation oncologist on all aspects of patient treatment

Required Skills:

• Graduate of a JCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent
• Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or ARRT Board exam eligible
• Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist or eligible.
• Strong medical skills and knowledge
• Patient/client-oriented
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to multitask and maintain schedule
• Proficiency with computer platforms and applications for Varian Eclipse and Aria
• Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotatic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT)
• Demonstrates enthusiasm and initiative to begin and complete tasks
• Minimum of one year in clinical setting post education

Desired Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy or a related health science field
• Experience with Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy preferred
• Dosimetry experience or willingness to learn dosimetry – be responsible for registering imaging for treatment planning and contouring of normal structures
