Job Summary:

As part of the Software Products Engineering (SPE) team, you will be an integral part of helping Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) further our vision to be the global leader in core and next-generation defense and security solutions.

This position is responsible for applying basic software engineering technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques associated with the C and C++ computer languages for software development. Under general supervision, develop solutions to a variety of challenging technical problems in software development, following established procedures. Collaborate and contribute to the successful completion of software related milestones on projects that include C/C++ software development, design, code, unit test and formal testing. Interact with senior software engineers and support staff on a situational basis. Develop and build knowledge of emerging software technologies. Produce documentation related to the design and release of software artifacts and provide formal and informal presentations to senior software personnel.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Apply expertise in software development for embedded multi-processor systems.

• Provide innovative and creative software solutions to complex technical problems.

• Follow and/or recommend changes to established processes and procedures.

• Review software products for soundness of technical judgment and adequacy.

• Produce documentation related to the design and release of software artifacts.

• Utilize agile software development methods, automation, and continuous integration.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires Bachelor’s degree and at least 13 months of relevant work experience OR in absence of a degree, 5 years of relevant work experience is required.

• Experience in programming.

• Experience in one or more of the following: data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems and architectures.

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

• Experience working in a multi-disciplined product development team/environment.

• Practical experience with guidance, navigation, sensing, tracking, and discriminating systems and associated algorithms is highly desired.

• Experience with Agile Software development methods (e.g., Scrum, continuous integration, etc.)

• Experience using scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python).

• Computer Science classes such as Operating Systems and Compiler Design.

• Electrical Engineering classes related to embedded systems design.
