Job description
JOBUnder the direction of the Assistant Director of Community Development, will assist in the daily operations of the Marshall recycling center and seasonally assist in the maintenance of Calhoun County Parks. The position is part-time with flexible weekday hours ranging from 5-21 hours a week. Recycling Center hours are approximately 7.5 hours a week, year-round, while parks hours are available seasonally from April-Oct at approximately 8-16 hours a week.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
RecyclingUnload cars, sort, and load recycling into shipping containers.Maintain recycling sites in a clean and functioning condition.Provide public education and information on Reduce-Reuse-Recycle topics.Assist as needed at Solid Waste Program events and programs.Greet the public as needed in a manner that fosters good customer service. Respond and resolve customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and effective manner.Perform other duties as assigned. ParksOperate equipment such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and hand tools.Plant and care for trees, shrubs, and flowers.Repair amenities such as picnic tables, benches, boardwalks, signs, and bathroom fixtures.Clearing trails and boardwalks of fallen trees and debris and address erosion issues. Pick up litter and remove bagged trash as needed.Respond to parkgoer questions and concerns professionally and effectively.Report any facility problems, vandalism, or illegal activities to immediate supervisor.Other job duties as assigned.
