Location & commitments

FT/PT/Temp/PRN role based at our Greenville (other) location, Monday-Friday, 8a.m. – 5 p.m. Additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the business. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.


Supervision Received:
Reports to the QMS Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager.


Supervision Exercised:
None.


Typical Physical Demands:

Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.


Typical Working Conditions:

Normal office environment.

About the role

Coordinate incoming and outgoing referrals, answer department phone calls, and schedule patient follow-up appointments.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and coordinate outgoing referrals to offices both inside and outside of Physicians East.
  • Complete and send Request for Referral Appointment Authorizations to Managed Care Representative.
  • Notify patient of referred appointment date and time.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient follow-up appointments.
  • Follow through to verify appointment was kept and report to referring provider.
  • Answer multi-line phones, transfer calls, and successfully operate a fax machine.
  • Work as a contributing member of a team to keep departments running smoothly.
  • Participate in in-service education, staff meetings and other continuing education programs to maintain optimal technical knowledge.
  • Adhere to department and company policies.
  • Attend safety classes and compliance training as offered by Physicians East, P.A.
  • Always maintain confidentiality.
  • Participates in educational activities, as necessary.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, education programs, conferences, etc.
  • Performs related work as required.

Candidate requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates Degree preferred in related field and at least 2 years of experience in medical office position or specialization required; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
