Refugee Resettlement Case Aide

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
While embracing the mission and vision of the Diocese of Green Bay, this Catholic Charities position is responsible for assisting with the timely delivery of core refugee services, coordinating all refugee medical screening services, and consistent documentation of services. The goal of this Refugee Resettlement Case Aide is to manage multiple community and internal resources for the benefit of the client and to follow all policies in resettlement services. The Refugee Resettlement Case Aide may also provide refugee support services when necessary.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Two years of previous work experience in a culturally diverse environment, preferably in refugee resettlement
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s culture and have the ability to communicate in a culturally competent manner
  • Must be proactive and create a cooperative, professional, and positive relationship with clients
  • Must be able to assist clients to solve difficult problems under pressure
  • Must be able to consistently work towards self-sufficiency with all clients and reflect the mission and the goals of Catholic Charities with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have a good driving record, and have at least two years of driving experience, and be willing to drive clients.
  • Attend regular meetings, case consultations, and assist with the development of crisis mitigation strategies
  • Able to keep informed of the social services policies and practices in all counties and localities where clients are resettling
  • Flexible to work irregular hours; some evenings and weekend work will be required from time to time. Refugee services staff rotate on-call work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Office products.
  • Preferred: Associate degree or equivalent, work experience can be substituted
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English and one other language spoken by clients: Dari, Pashto, Swahili, Rohingya, Russian
