Healthgrades' Top 100 Hospital is hiring a team-oriented, Registered Dietitian for this skilled interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate can assess patients in a timely manner and create high-quality nutritional plans. This Dietitian assesses anywhere from 12-15 patient cases per day, evaluating and treating a variety of dietary diagnoses with Medical Nutrition Therapy.

The Registered Dietitian of the Health and Nutrition department will promote the hospital, food, and nutritional services' policies and procedures. The RD will help create recommendations for improving patient assessment times, increasing collaboration efficiency between departments, and providing educational resources to patients and surrounding communities.

Responsibilities of the Registered Dietitian RD, Health and Nutrition:
  • Oversee 15+ daily patient cases throughout the facility, including ICU
  • Diagnose nutritional-related problems with the Nutrition Care Process NCP in a timely manner
  • Conduct meal rounds to determine the adequacy and acceptability of meals
  • Create and implement patient treatment plans, developing priorities, goals, and objectives
  • Monitor and revise nutritional plans for patients across the lifespan per protocol to meet individual nutrients needs
  • Provide nutrition counseling for oral diets/supplements and enteral/parenteral nutrition
  • Provide MNT involving behavioral nutrition therapy; lactation counseling, physical activity, exercise counseling, and health education
  • Report to the Director of Food Services and Clinical Nutrition Manager with recommendations to improve times of patient screening and assessments
  • Develop policies and recommendations by participating in food and nutrition-related research to demonstrate food and nutrition-related outcomes
  • Provide recommendations for nutrition-related ICD10 diagnostic coding
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate the nutritional care needs of the patients
  • Act as a liaison between the health and nutrition department to other units, including ICU
  • Make referrals to appropriate programs and nutrition resources
  • Provide comprehensive nutrition-related education to patients, families, and the community
  • Advocate on behalf of patients and families regarding their nutritional well-being, promoting patient satisfaction programs
  • Provide education and nutrition resources to the community about healthy lifestyles changes and positive nutritional outcomes
  • Supervise and provide guidance and training for dietetic interns, dietetic students, and DTRs
  • Assist with mentoring new personnel as it relates to the provision of nutritional care for the patients
  • Pursue continuing education and personal development programs to maintain and expand the knowledge base

Requirements for the Registered Dietitian RD, Health and Nutrition:
  • Bachelor's Degree in food and nutrition required
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist RD/N
  • 1+ years of clinical nutrition experience in acute care settings
  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/American Dietetic Association
  • Working knowledge of the CBORD Patient and Resident Nutrition Solutions dietary menu system
