Meridian Radiology Ultrasound Technologist

This position reports to: Meridian Radiology Executive Director, Meridian Medical Services Chief Executive Officer.

Internally, this position teams with: Other MMS team members and staff.

Externally, this position interacts with: Meridian Visiting Physicians staff and patients, Indiana Department of Corrections staff and patients, referring physicians, and other patients and members of the public.

Qualifications

Education Requirement

· Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

· RDMS certification in one or more of the following areas: Abdomen or Vascular.

· Obtain Certification as a Correctional Health Professional within 6 months of employment.

· Basic Life Support/CPR Certification by a nationally recognized organization.

Overview

General Duties

· Responsible for performing ultrasound examinations to assist radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury including but not limited to:

o REQUIRED minimum 2 years’ experience in general and vascular ultrasound

o echocardiography preferred but not required.

· Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and repairs. Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunction to radiology management staff.

· Performs a full range of ultrasound technician assignments and uses considerable independent judgment in making decisions requiring the interpretation and application of established methods and procedures to specific situations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

· Sets up and operates ultrasound equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.

· Takes vital signs when necessary.

· Works independently with minimal supervision.

· Distributes images to appropriate medical staff.

· Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to equipment, including determining repairs needed to equipment.

· Analyze patient’s medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures.

· Participate in quality improvement activities; evaluate procedure results for technical quality and accuracy; maintain appropriate logs, files, and records.

· Prepares preliminary reports for review and interpretation by physician, including comparison of previous studies.

· Review department performance in relation to established goals, implementing changes to effect outcomes.

· Maintain confidentiality of patients, employees and corporation-related activities.

· Communicate technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines.

Physical Demands

· Ability to carry and transport various equipment.

· Responsible for transporting all necessary equipment to exam locations.

· Responsible for keeping all company equipment, vehicles and other materials clean.

Pay, Benefits, and Expectations

· This is a full-time position with expectation of 40-hour work weeks;

· This position is paid on an hourly basis at a rate commensurate with experience, between $35.00-$40.00/hr;

· Schedule is based upon the needs of the department. Variables include patient load, staff vacations, and other needs of the department.

· Full-time benefits include:

o 6 Paid Holidays throughout the calendar year;

o 2 Weeks’ Accrued Paid Time Off at a rate of 3.08 hours per pay period worked;

§ Use of PTO is not permissible during the first 90-days of employment and subject to approval by management.

o Optional Medical, Vision, and Dental coverage offered and paid at 50% by the company, eligible for enrollment post the 90-day mark of employment; and

o Small Supplemental Life Insurance policy paid in full by the company.
