Purpose

The purpose of the Registration and Authorization Specialist role is to act as a liaison between sales, subscribers, government program personnel, and other internal/external stakeholders. In addition, this role will review documentation and accurately assess, review and process required financial and demographic information for all patients provided directly from Case Manager requests.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtaining and entering referrals, payer changes, equipment upgrades, information updates, etc.
  • Enter Medicaid authorizations for treatment from various payers
  • Accurately maintaining patient files and current authorization information
  • Coordinating with various locations regarding authorization statuses and assist with insurance verification and other billing office related activities
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required and/or assigned


Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in revenue cycle, patient access, front desk registration, medical billing, documentation review, and/or data entry
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
  • Must be technically savvy and comfortable using software, including, but not limited to:
    • MS Office, Insurance Portals, SalesForce, OnBase
  • High aptitude to learn new programs, system integrations, and business processes
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage relationships with various insurance payers
  • Strong work ethic with proven track record of accuracy, dependability, and consistency
  • Must be able to think independently, multitask, have strong problem-solving skills, and have a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Ability to gain the cooperation of others in pursuit of company goals.
