Position Summary: This position is an Accounting Supervisor which has overall responsibility for the Representative Payee Program of Wisconsin Community Services. Develops, implements, and maintains all financial services processes and controls for program participants utilizing Representative Payee services. Responsible for the technology applications used in support of the Representative Payee program. Supervises support staff of the Representative Payee program.


Essential Functions:

  • Develops, implements and maintains financial systems for payeeship clients including, but not limited to, money management
  • Serves as primary resource for technology applications utilized by staff in support of program participant’s financial needs
  • Oversees review and posting to program participant’s accounts on a regular basis; monitors participant’s accounts for maintenance at an acceptable level
  • Oversees payment of bills and monthly installments/rent for program participants
  • Reviews data entry and provides quality assurance for support staff associated with the programs
  • Ensures appropriate case noting by support staff in order to maximize program billing
  • Recruits, screens, interviews, and trains program support staff
  • Provides ongoing supervision, training, and evaluations of assigned staff
  • Ensures adequate staff coverage for support positions in the Community Based Mental Health Programs by managing and approving staff schedules, delegating or providing back-up as needed
  • Completes monthly bank and other reconciliations as required

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend clinical staffings as needed
  • Other job related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position


Job Qualifications:


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Financial services knowledge with the ability to clearly communicate this to others; good staff supervision skills and the ability to maintain and promote positive working relationships within the Community Based Mental Health Programs; good understanding of mental illness and its effects of clients and their families; effective use of time and resources to help maintain quality support services within the programs; good organizational, computer and typing skills; ability to cope with emergency situations with a highly impaired population.

Minimal Qualifications: Associates Degree in Accounting; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Some experience working with persons diagnosed with mental illnesses.

Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in a busy clinic environment where participant’s symptomatology may be evident; most of the work is done sitting at a desk and using the computer; hours average 40 hours per week; flexible work schedule may include some holidays if the program is open; may be required to work on busy client days such as “check days.”

Physical Demands: Work is mostly sedentary in nature and requires sitting for long periods of time with occasional trips to the printer and copier; duties require hand and finger dexterity for data entry and typing.
