The Ray Laboratory is looking for a Temporary, Full-time Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will be investigating the mechanisms of interaction of antibodies with SARS-CoV-2 encoded proteins, with the objective of designing novel antibodies from the 3D structure of viral antigens. The Ray Laboratory seeks highly motivated, creative, and flexible individuals who can work well with an interdisciplinary team of scientists. Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in science or related discipline is required. Qualified candidates will have significant hands-on prior experience with any one or more of the following: molecular biology methods (gene cloning, RNA and/or protein expression/purification, enzyme assays), cell biology methods (mammalian cell culture, cytometry), or computational methods (programming, statistical analysis, machine learning).

Successful completion of Laboratory Safety training.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Under the direction of supervisor, conduct laboratory research using biochemical, molecular biological, and genetic laboratory procedures
Assist P.I. and other research team members

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans.

Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard or pipette. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example, to lift or move office supplies, files, books, and packages.
