Description

Corteva Agriscience is looking for a responsible and motivated Research Associate to join our Research Team in Lubbock, TX. The Research Associate will be an integral member of the Crop Protection Discovery and Development field testing team. This group is responsible for testing transgenic traits, crop protection products and biologicals in corn and cotton. You will also provide support for Seed Product Development in corn, cotton and sorghum.

Responsibilities – What you will do:

  • Assist the Field Scientist with execution of field trials across multiple crops.

  • Participate in day-to-day operations including seed handling, tillage, planting, irrigation system maintenance and operation, tissue sampling, plot maintenance, data collection, drought phenotyping, pesticide applications, harvest and supervision of temporary labor.

  • Assist Field Scientist with regulatory compliance and USDA inspections.

  • Operate and maintain field equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, combines and cotton strippers.

  • Assist Seed Product Development team with laboratory and field activities.

  • This position will require extended hours at off-site locations during peak times and occasional overnight travel.

  • Continuous training will be required to obtain skills needed for utilization of new technology and to stay current with changes in the industry.

  • Maintain assigned safety programs and comply with all Corteva safety programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications – What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy or related field.

  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.

  • Ability to maintain and operate agricultural machinery.

  • Ability to learn and successfully use proprietary software for data collection.

  • Ability to make critical observations, follow protocols, work independently and supervise other employees.

  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays when necessary.

  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.

  • Must be capable of working in varying ergonomic and environmental conditions for extended periods of time.
