Description:

Our client is seeking a Research Associate III to join our Potency Assays Group. Potency Assays is responsible for the development, qualification and implementation of Potency assays that include but are not limited to cell-based assays, binding ELISAs and AlphaLISAs as well as other methods to support the characterization and advancement of therapeutics in the pipeline.

Experience and Know-How

  • Demonstrates technical expertise in immunological and general cell-based assays, ELISAs, cytotoxicity, tissue culture and molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with programming and use of high-throughput liquid-handling systems is strongly desired
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique
  • Experience in the use of live cell imaging systems is strongly desired
  • Demonstrates a scientific curiosity & understanding of potency assays
  • Can critically evaluate and apply techniques
  • Understands scope of projects and how work fits within the context of departmental goals
  • Viewed as subject matter expert on potency assays and assay automation
  • Must be driven, high-motivated and be able to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Creative, independent, well-organized and solution-oriented

Complexity

  • Can lead potency specific projects and ensures transparency of results and plans to supervisor and management

Decision Making and Accountability

  • Functions in experimental design, implementation, and interpretation of results with minimal supervision
  • Expected to understand scope of project
  • Will be assigned responsibility for long-term projects or for components within major projects

Potency Assay Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a keen interest in potency assay automation, both programming and using liquid handlers
  • Responsible for the organization and generation of large-scale cell banks used for potency assays
  • Develop, qualify, and implement potency assays (cytotoxicity, binding, effector function, immunological and other assays) to support early- and late-phase product and process development
  • Transfer potency assays to QC GMP group
  • Potential to represent the group as a lead on technical and other cross-functional teams
  • Present work and participate in larger group meetings
  • Write technical reports

Skills & Qualifications:

B.S. or M.S in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Microbiology, Bioengineering or related discipline

3-5+ years industry experience preferred

Experience with liquid handling robots highly preferred
