Job description
Silgan Closures is seeking an experienced RESEARCH SCIENTIST to assist in the formulation and evaluate of new materials for our steel, plastic and aluminum closures.
What you’ll do:
- Play a crucial role in testing material and closure properties to provide customers and manufacturing plants with new and improved closures and materials.
- Collaborate in the formulation of liner materials and other plastic closure materials/compound materials using a variety of extrusion and mixing equipment.
- Travel to manufacturing plants, vendors and customer locations in support of trials and approvals for both new and existing materials.
- Maintain equipment, laboratory, supplies and chemical inventory to ensure efficient compounding and testing of closure materials.
- Analyze experimental data to optimize material properties and processing conditions
Job Requirements:
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Engineering (Plastic/Material/Chemical) or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years related experience.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of plastics and polymer/formulations/processing.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE).
