Good Shepherd Shelter is a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., which is a transitional shelter for women, and children who are escaping domestic violence. The shelter provides shelter in individual apartment units at no cost, case management, trauma-informed therapy for mothers and children, an on-site elementary school, an adult learning center, food, and legal resources.

Good Shepherd Shelter is seeking a dependable, caring individual who has experience working with a transitional shelter or has a passion for helping those in need.

Responsibilities:

  • Point of contact for residents in case of emergency.
  • Responsible for coordinating rooms of shelter.
  • Conduct rounds of shelter.
  • Assists residents with problems and questions.
  • Knowledge and experience in dealing with domestic violence and how it affects families.
  • Answers phones and monitors front door and guest.
  • Ensures shelter residents comply with rules and policies of the program.
  • Observes and records significant activities.
  • Oversees volunteer activities.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school or the equivalent.
  • Six to twelve months of related experience.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills
  • Good conversation skills and a friendly demeanor
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Able to maintain organized logs of activities and services provides
  • Physically capable of doing work that requires standing, lifting, bending, and pushing

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.08 per hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
  • human services: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:

  • Spanish (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Preferred)
