Cal-Waste Recovery Systems is looking for a full-time Residential Driver. Cal-Waste is
a premiere recycling and waste recovery company servicing the Sacramento, San
Joaquin and Calaveras County areas. Cal-Waste is a family owned business 95 years

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Route Supervisor, Residential Drivers operate heavy-trucks and are
responsible for the collection of residential household waste or recyclable material.
Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility when trucks
reach legal load capacity. Driver safety maneuvers vehicle in residential environments.
Navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways alleyways, and lots.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using the standard

Driver Vehicle Inspection Report.

• Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs.
• Provides warm and friendly customer service.
• Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service issues to Route Supervisor or

Dispatch.

• Services customer sites leaving free of any debris.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load household waste,

recycling and/or yard and garden material.

• Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility.
• Driver navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and

lots.

• Utilize onboard computer dispatch and routing system. Works closely with Route

Supervisor and Customer Service to improve route efficiencies and identify best
practices.

• Identifies and reports all carts in need of repair or replacement.
• Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation

and check out process.

• Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Supervisor and assists other drivers

as directed to meet customer needs.

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

• 1+ years of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL.

• Hold a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and

background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal
history and motor vehicle record review.
