Promotes a positive student experience within a residential community geared to affirm and promote diverse and inclusive spaces; serves on the professional staff team for the department, supports the college with emergency response and on on-call duties and implements the goals and objectives of the department on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:
Student Education & Experience:

  • Create a positive residential experience for residents that affirms safe, diverse, and inclusive spaces - and promotes learning and retention of all students.
  • Develop relationships with students as individuals and in the college community.
  • Assess the development of residents/communities and implement the residential community building model in a way that best meets these needs.
  • Implement the Residential Curriculum and engagement expectations across your community
  • Oversee specialized communities by area including LLCs, Language Houses, and Greek Life Housing
  • Serve as a conduct officer for minor and mid-level conduct issues.
  • Serve as a referral agent for campus and community resources including Health & Wellbeing. Counseling Center, Financial Aid, Campus Safety, etc.
  • Promote a safe and secure living environment and respond to student concerns, crises, and emergencies as they arise.
  • Serve as an on-call staff member for the Department and the Division of Student Life as needed.
  • Provide advisor support as needed for student organizations.
  • Provide support for off campus students as needed.

Administration & Operations

  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records for the Department.
  • Work closely with the Front Desk Coordinator to manage daily and blockly operations of the residential community, including but not limited to opening, closing, RA on call rotation, desk scheduling, room changes, damage billing and appeals, key management, and front desk procedures.
  • Perform a variety of facility management duties such as weekly building walks, maintaining up to date inventories, overseeing health and safety inspections, and serving as the conduit for communication between facilities/maintenance staff and students.
  • Assist with summer conferences, summer session, and summer projects.
  • Utilize fiscal and other resources appropriately, including balancing of community budget.

Staffing & General

  • Live-in position to provide oversight and response to residents in assigned community. The staff utilizes a rotating on call schedule to allow for appropriate time off from duties.
  • Supervise and evaluate a student staff of 8-21 Resident Advisors.
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of student staff and/or full-time departmental staff.
  • Contribute to the Division of Student Life and the greater campus community.
  • Serve on departmental and campus committees.
  • Explore collateral opportunities or projects across campus. This provides professional development to work with other offices within the Student Life Division.
  • Be present and available to work during annual all-campus events and celebrations: New Student Orientation, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Winter Ball, Halloween, Llamapalooza, Commencement, and hall openings and closings.

o Actively support the colleges plan to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
o Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe
situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
o Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the colleges sustainability
initiatives and innovation.
o Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelors Degree, experience working with college students, basic computer skills, and an understanding of college student development. Adept at developing and sustaining relationships, possess an understanding of and commitment to supporting diversity inclusion and social justice; be able to utilize quality critical thinking skills within a political environment, and have an appreciation of the value of the study of liberal arts in a residential setting. Other qualifications include personal integrity and an understanding of ones self, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; critical and creative problem solving skills, strong administrative skills, a positive attitude, and the capacity to function well autonomously. Employment will be contingent upon the satisfactory results of a background check of candidate and their live in spouse or partner (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of full-time work experience in a college or university setting. Masters degree in Student Affairs or a related field and prior residential life experience in a liberal arts college environment.
