Summary/Objective: The ReStore Manager will lead the day to day operations of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The Manager is responsible for the overall business performance of the ReStore with priority focus of managing store operations, hiring, training, and supervision of volunteers and staff; and establishing a workplace culture that emphasizes customer service and reflects Habitat for Humanity values.

Essential Functions:

Operational:

  • Drive sales of and profits from both donated and purchased ReStore inventory to provide sustainable funding to support Habitat for Humanity’s programs.
  • Work together with general manager, assistant store manager, donation manager and receiving manager to ensure that plan, policies, procedures and processes are being followed.
  • Maintain store model and departmental merchandising standards.
  • Focus on payroll efficiency, regular engagement of all staff members to ensure that staff is focused on tasks and achievement of measurable results towards prioritized objectives.
  • Oversee merchandising of the sales floor, maximizing available display space and using inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise.
  • Ensure that all areas of the store, restrooms, parking lots and warehouse are clean and safe.
  • Hire and train ReStore staff; conduct periodic evaluations of staff.
  • Train new volunteers and staff to deliver high quality, consistent customer service experiences in the ReStore and ensure issues are professionally resolved and reported in a timely basis.
  • Provide direction, supervision and feedback for ReStore volunteers.

Finance and Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting practices: reconciling of daily sales and the daily closing out of all financial transactions.
  • Approve, ensure accurate coding and submit payable invoices on a timely basis to accounting department.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Provide monthly reports as requested by the General Manager.
  • Communicate with volunteer coordinator about volunteer groups, needs, etc.
  • Meet regularly with the General Manager to discuss sales strategies, trends and ensure that objectives and directives established by the leadership team are being met consistently.

  • Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic; able to work in environment with rapidly changing conditions and unexpected shifts in priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, dealing well with a variety of people, personalities and backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and public relations skills.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a retail store. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, tablets, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate performs the following activities: standing; walking; working on Saturdays; exposure to heat, wind, and rain; operating warehouse equipment; ability to lift 90 pounds or more.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position. The typical workweek is Monday – Saturday with a day off during the week. The day off will change on a weekly basis. The ReStore locations are closed on Sunday.

Education, Experience and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or related professional experience.
  • Experience in a retail environment required.
  • Cursory knowledge in building materials preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in training, managing, leading and developing people and teams.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Neat and clean professional appearance.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
