Position: Retention Specialist

Pay Status: Full Time – 30 hours per week

Reports to: Program Manager-Successful Futures

Classification: Non-Exempt

Organizational Level: Direct Service Employee

Distinguishing Characteristics of Work: The Retention Specialist is required to help the individual integrate into the chosen work site and develop naturally occurring supports that will allow the individual to be as independent in the job as possible. The Retention Specialist provides training and assistance with acquisition, retention and improvement of skills related to maintaining such employment. Caseload as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Acts as an advocate for the individual, family and employer on an on-going basis.
2. Perform job task analysis for each job as needed.
3. Provides systematic training and retraining on the job site when appropriate or requested by the employer.
4. Develops an individualized follow along plan and facilitates goal attainment.
5. Provides on-going assessment of consumers’ job performance through observation, data collection, and on-going communication with all stakeholders.
6. Facilitates independence and integration by identifying community resources with regards to work and leisure.
7. Assists with development of natural supports on the job site.
8. Assist co-workers and supervisors to develop an apperception and understanding of the unique strengths and needs of the consumer.
9. Maintains contact with family or other stakeholders for identification and remediation of potential problems.
10. Identifies and initiates job adaptations to ensure maintenance of employment.
11. Provides training to individual on appropriate interactions with employer, co-workers, customers, and the general public.
12. Participate in individual support planning meetings when invited by the consumer and/or support coordinator and other meetings as required by supervisor.
13. Completes all paperwork, service logs, data collection and correspondence as required accurately and timely using computer technology.
14. Responds to cell phone calls within 24 hours.
15. Obtains a satisfactory rating on case file reviews.
16. Obtains a satisfactory rating or above on Customer Satisfaction surveys.
17. Provides job coaching/training as required by the individual and requested by the employer.
18. Maintains regular contact with the employer and individual on and away from the job site with a minimum of two monthly contacts.
19. Assists with job coaching.
20. Assists with Project Search on a substitute basis.
21. Attends IEP meetings at various schools.
22. Records accurate service log notes and billing hours weekly.
23. Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience:

1. Associates in Arts Degree from an accredited college or university and two years’ employment in a related field OR,

2. Four years of direct services employment in a related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer literate, proficient in MS Word and Outlook, knowledgeable of Excel
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work the hours required by the job.
  • Ability to perform job functions independently.
  • Organizational and time management skills to assure billable hours are met each month.
  • Valid Florida driver’s that meets the state requirements for the type of vehicle you will be driving.
  • Auto insurance that meets at least the minimum requirements of the State of Florida.
