The revenue and cost accounting manager plays a critical role in the finance and accounting departments. You would report to the VP, Accounting and Corporate Controller and will be very familiar with technical accounting requirements (FASB and SEC Rules and Regulations) around revenue recognition (ASC 606, IFRS 15), cost and inventory accounting. You will work in a highly visible environment and will be responsible for determining proper revenue recognition on hardware and software /SaaS sales arrangements, assisting in the management of internal controls, preparing reporting analyses for management, and assist in the design of new business and system processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Research and prepare technical accounting analysis of new software, cloud, and services offerings in support of fast evolving enterprise business
  • Review of revenue arrangements to determine the appropriate accounting treatment, address potential issues, and document conclusions
  • Responsible for cost and revenue related activities: month & quarter end close, inventory management, physical count, standard cost setting, labor & overhead absorption, margin analysis, freight and duty tracking and monitoring
  • Work closely and partner with supply chain team to set specific Inventory turnover targets to minimize inventory on hand and mitigate E&O risks
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and improve upon business and system processes enabling scalable operations for new offerings and sales motions with the goal of accurate revenue accounting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist in control activities required to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley section 404 as related to revenue recognition and inventory accounting
  • Assist the department in other ad hoc accounting tasks as necessary or as delegated

Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant professional experience, with a preferred mix of Big 4 and industry experience. (note: direct from Big 4 candidate at least at a manager level will be highly considered)
  • Possesses strong technical accounting research skills and ability to identify practical applications of the accounting standards to new software and services offerings
  • Exhibits a combination of analytical skills matched with superb communication in working on strategic initiatives cross-functionally within the organization
  • Strong ability to assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
  • Must have excellent communication and coordination skills, specially in working with people outside the accounting department.
  • Has great overall business acumen particularly in the telecommunications and/or technology space.
  • Advanced Excel skill (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
