About the Role

The Risk Insurance Analyst is responsible for insurance policy files, management of insurance data, contract review, and specified insurance policy renewals.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with cross functional teams on the collection of underwriting data for property, marine and casualty lines of coverage and preparation of marketing specifications.
• Manage timely premium payments and invoice processing.
• Develop claims and financial reports from risk management information system used to analyze claims data and develop loss prevention / safety initiatives.
• Negotiate insurance provisions in contracts and secure insurance documentation as contractually required.
• Manage a cross functional team of internal company stakeholders and external insurance brokers to ensure that Matson’s insurance documentation meets customer requirements as well as complies with contractual and regulatory requirements to ensure no disruption in critical vessel and cargo operations.
• Manage the vendor insurance compliance program to protect Matson’s ability to transfer its risk to its vendors.
• Manage surety bonds, resolve issues with U.S. Customs and other federal agencies, and secure responses to surety demands.
• Prepare risk management procedures with respect to insurance compliance.
• Protect and retain insurance policies, both in force and expired policies, to maximize Matson’s ability to obtain insurance recoveries
• Maintain and update file retention schedule.
• Projects and tasks assigned by Director and Senior Risk Manager.

You have these skills:

• Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
• Excellent customer service, problem solving and analytical skills.

And these qualifications:

• High school degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Basic knowledge of auto liability, general liability and state act workers’ compensation insurance a plus.
• 2-5 years related experience in insurance or related role.
• Excellent customer service, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with risk management information systems, Excel, and PowerPoint.

You’re also great at:

• Working on multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment.

Extra credit if you have:

• Prior experience with claims database systems is a plus.
• Desire and willingness to take educational courses, pursue professional designations and attend industry webinars to further insurance education
