Medical Services of America currently seeks an experienced Risk & Safety Manager to join our team at the MSA Corporate Office in Lexington, SC.

The Risk & Safety Manager is responsible for planning, directing and implementing the Company's safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.

Safety & Risk Related Duties

  • Submits all Workers’ Compensation (WC) claims to company’s third party administrator (TPA)
  • Ensures that the TPA manages WC claims diligently, partners with Legal (internal & external) to manage relevant claim details, and implements plan for timely resolution of claims.
  • Reviews medical notes as they relate to WC claims and treatment to verify appropriateness.
  • Reviews claims together with TPA for causation and possible subrogation opportunities.
  • Partners with multiple departments to coordinate and manage Return to Work programs for employees to ensure that work restrictions and transitional work guidelines are available and being adhered to.
  • Maintains consistent uniform records for each WC claims.
  • Reviews all open claims every 30 days for opportunities for claims management and partner with all relevant parties on a plan of action.
  • Participates in negotiation and resolution of claims within the company’s self-insured retention, and monitors resolution of claims in excess of the company’s retention, intervening as necessary to protect the company’s assets.
  • Participates in annual insurance renewal negotiations and related tasks throughout the year.
  • Participates in claim reviews with TPA.
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with federal, State, local, and company safety regulations by interpreting standards, enforcing adherence to regulations, responding to internal and external inquiries, completing required reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Understands and maintains knowledge of federal and multi-state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Maintains the organization’s Risk & Safety Policy & Procedure Manual.
  • Works closely with HR Director regarding the company’s accreditation process for providers of home care; specifically as it relates to HR, Safety, Infection Control, and Environment of Care.
