Summary:
Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is currently seeking RN candidates to join our team as a Clinical Trainer! This position will work full-time working 40 hours per week Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.

- Experience working in both primary care and specialty care clinics.
- Implements effective training programs for all staff based on clinical skills and requirements.
- Evaluates educational needs according to department and medical center requirements and offers training utilizing evidence based practice and accepted standards.
- Assists Site Managers in development and training of department-specific workflows and protocols for clinical staff. Assist in creation of departmental Quick Tip Sheets and other tools, as necessary.
- Evaluate, suggest and incorporate non-clinical and clinical practices and learning opportunities that improve the medical practice for patient safety and well-being.
- Assist Clinical Education Program Coordinator in allocating resources and guiding training plans to meet the current staffing needs of the organization.
- Update and set new goals when called for and continue to revise training and curriculum to remain relevant and applicable to current practices.
- Assists Clinical Educator with development of training manuals and educational materials and programs.
- Maintains skills and cross-trains to various departments to assure knowledge of current workflow processes and procedures.
- Onboarding
- Assists Human Resources with onboarding and training of new clinical staff during orientation. Clinical trainer is responsible for following a training program to satisfy orientation requirements and ensure that basic clinical competencies are met by orientee.
- Collaborates with trainers/mentors/preceptors to educate and test staff for competency upon hire and at 90 days.
- Seeks feedback from orienting personnel and/or providers to determine skill level and further need for augmented training/orientation.
- Utilizes education and expertise to function as a source of information for those around them, as well as their orientee, and will assess and set goals for their orientee’s training for them to be successful.
- Liaises with EMR Trainer to ensure proper documentation of office procedures in Electronic Health Record.
- Communicates progress and challenges of new employees with the orientee, supervisor, and mentor/preceptor, as appropriate
- Teaches newly hired BMC clinical staff (orientee) to assist the provider in a variety of patient care duties and perform related clerical duties in accordance with area assigned.
- Ongoing clinical education
- Works with supervisors/managers to assist staff who need extra training to ensure they meet BMC’s expected standards of care after their 90-day review period has passed.
- Collaborates with the Clinical and Employee Health Coordinator to offer ongoing annual refresher clinical competency training and evaluations, as well as train all clinical staff on new equipment and/or processes.
- Assists with workflow evaluation and improvement processes when deficiencies are identified.
- Assists Clinical Educator in the development and maintenance of training for clinical staff identified and selected as preceptors to promote their competency as trainers within the clinical departments.
- Develop and create material and lessons to educate selected preceptors on effective
- Collaborate with preceptors to create person goals to support their effectiveness as a trainer.
- Develop and implement an evaluation process for preceptors.
Experience and Skills:
- Must be able to use appropriate professional judgment based on nursing process in course of action.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to and work at all three (3) BMC sites, as assigned.
- Must be available by phone to accept assignment changes as needed.
- Good history-taking skills, strong, competent computer skills
- Accurate and complete documentation skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Relate well and communicate with patients, providers, and staff. Able to demonstrate self-direction in establishing priorities and working with little supervision. Able to maintain high level of precision in judgment, accuracy of assessment, and skill in problem solving under stress based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.
- Knowledge:
- Broad knowledge base of general nursing practice, knowledge of acute practice based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.

Education
- Graduate of accredited nursing program. Current RN licensure by the State of Colorado.
Previous Experience:
- 1-2 years’ nursing experience.in a medical office, clinic or hospital.
Salary:
- $29.50 -$37.50/hour; depending on experience
