Qualifications include:
- Current RN licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
- BSN or MA/MSN, Nursing or Education preferred.
- PALS/ENPC/CALS Certification preferred.
- Two years experience in a similar role preferred.
- BLS certification.
Schedule: .5 FTE
Duties include:
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager and DRN’s (spell out DRN Departmental Resource Nurse)in the determination of orientation needs and orientation schedule for each new employee
- Collaborates with Valley Learning and Development to design nursing orientation program, preceptor program, and other learning and development programs to meet Valley and local hospital and clinics’ nursing education needs.
- Help support Central Nursing Orientation to all newly hired staff
- Serves as a preceptor as appropriate
- Determine length of orientation based on employee performance
- Provides direction and mentoring to preceptors
- Ensures each staff member has completed the required competencies prior to the end of the probationary period.
- Communicates the progress with the Nurse Manager
- Coordinates opportunities for competency and mandatory education completion (skills days, annual mandatory education, inservices, certifications, mock codes/ simulations, vendor inservicing, skills workshops, etc.)
- Integrates and delivers education required from regulatory, organizational, and evidence-based or best practice changes in nursing
- Determine educational needs and performs nursing needs assessment.
- Partners with nurse leaders to coordinate clinical student internships, preceptorship, and clinical observations
- Utilized varied methods i.e. presentations, myLearning, learning modules, sharing education
- Provides feedback and coaching regarding performance on a regular basis to staff members
- Provides feedback to Nurse Manager regarding competency achievement and role performance of the staff
- Leads the Nursing Council with focus of expanding nursing education and improving nursing practice on the campus
- Active participant of VAT (spell out Valley Analysis Team) team (coordinating or providing) and responsible for education needs as a result of a new product/equipment
