Foss Home & Village a not-for-profit, mission driven senior service provider since 1929, is seeking a full-time Staff Development and Infection Preventionist Coordinator RN/LPN. Foss has an excellent reputation for quality care with low staff turnover and high staff to client ratios.

The ideal candidate must be an RN/LPN with 3+years’ experience in a long-term care setting, has specialized training in infection prevention and with knowledge of federal and state regulations. Strong leadership with supervisory experience, ability to handle multiple priorities, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills and demonstrated teaching skills are a must.

Foss provides excellent clinical support and skill development opportunities while encouraging critical thinking and application of nursing process. Duties include developing and implementing a clinical training program that enhances Foss’s goals and strategies in infection control and prevention.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Quality Assurance/Infection Prevention:

A. Institute, monitor, report on all aspects of Quality Assurance in Foss Home & Village.

1. Conduct and record Quality Assurance Committee meetings, discussing areas of concern, determining course of action, monitoring progress, weekly pressure ulcer reports, and tabulating results for presentation to bi-monthly and quarterly quality assurance committee meeting when applicable. QA quarterly report will include but not be limited to presentation of prevalence & incidence of resident infections, pressure ulcers and incidents.

2. Corrects, updates, and/or creates new Policy/Procedures under direction of the Director of Nursing Services as necessary. Places these with in-service sheet on each unit for nursing to review (between 5th and 25th of each month). Replaces in all facility Policy/Procedure books and removes old material.

3. Initiates and monitors studies, audits, action plans as needed.

4. Attends and contributes to monthly safety Committee Meetings as appropriate.

B. Develop, update and coordinate implementation of the infection prevention plan of Foss Home & Village. Monitors monthly Infection Control Report, Skin Report, and Falls report.

1. Maintains quality assurance and infection control reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.

2. Makes rounds of the facility on a routine basis, or in specific instances, to detect and correct potential problem areas relative to quality or infection.

3. Administer 2 step TB skin testing at hire and annually for all employees. Maintains records of TB results and immunizations for all employees.

Staff Development:

1. Assess the Nursing staff in-service and educational needs; to plan, develop and implement in-service educational programs designed to meet these needs.

2. Coordinates the orientation and implementation of programs for new nursing staff employees (NAC’s/LPN’s/RN’s)

3. Coordinates the nursing assistant training and continuing education program according to state and federal regulations, provides for routine certification and other required in-services.

4. Insures that educational and in-service records are maintained according to state and federal regulations.

5. Coordinates all aspects of clinical affiliations with nursing schools and community colleges.

6. Performs other duties as assigned by management to meet changing job-related requirement.
