Job description
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties of the Circulating Nurse in the operating room, including but not limited to:
- Assisting in patient education as needed
- Assuring proper supplies, instruments, and equipment are available for procedures and are functioning properly
- Accurate and appropriate patient documentation both on paper and electronically
- Assisting anesthesia with induction procedures and other tasks as requested
- Assisting with staff breaks as needed
- Transporting patients from pre-op admission and to PACU
- Performing surgical prep and accurate needle/sponge counts
- Monitoring for breaks in aseptic technique
- Monitoring patients undergoing local anesthesia according to policy
- Accurately labeling/sending pathology and/or cultures according to procedure/policy
- Assisting with cleaning operating rooms and turn overs/restocks
Job Requirements
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current/active Oregon nursing license. BLS/ACLS are required.
Scrub and/or orthopedic experience is desirable.
