- A registered nurse holds ultimate responsibility for the provision of nursing care to patients and their families in a variety of settings.
- These responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a complex patient population.
- The nurse attends to the full range of human experiences and responses to health and illness, without restriction.
- The nurse utilizes a problem focused orientation; integrates objective data with knowledge gained from an understanding of the patient’s or group’s subjective experiences; applies scientific knowledge to the process of diagnosis and treatment; and provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing.
- The Registered Nurse adheres to the Board of Registration in Nursing rules and regulations, ANA scope and standards of nursing, the ANA code of ethics for nursing, Tufts Medicine - MelroseWakefield Hospital policies and procedures and other regulatory stipulations.
- In collaboration with the nurse manager, assists in the coordination of patient care services for the PACU and SDC.
EDUCATION:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing strongly preferred.
- Registration and current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standing required.
- CPAN/CAPA certification highly encouraged. BLS/ACLS/PALS required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Pre op or Phase I/Phase 2 PACU experience required.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Maintains flexibility & accommodates the constantly changing needs of surgical services.
- Possesses self-direction, flexibility and communicates effectively.
- Demonstrates the ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
- Participates in and attends continuing education programs in both in and outside of the hospital.
