Roadway Designer – Raleigh/Cary, NC

Benesch is hiring a roadway designer to join our growing Cary office. As a roadway designer on our team you will have the opportunity to work various infrastructure projects for State DOT’s, local municipalities and private clients. You will provide design support for roadways, driveways, sidewalks, greenways, parks, multimodal improvements, and bridge replacement projects. You will regularly interact and coordinate designs efforts with the hydraulic, traffic, structures, environmental and other disciplines to develop turnkey projects.

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for:

  • Performing basic analysis and design of roadway, driveways greenways and multiuse paths
  • Preparing organized structural calculations
  • Designing and drafting plans and details
  • Developing task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
  • Working independently under the guidance of a Project Engineer and/or Project Manager
  • Work collaboratively with and support other disciplines to develop a complete project

What You Will Need:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required.
  • Knowledge of basic roadway and civil engineering principals
  • 0 to 2+ years of design experience
  • Intern experience or professional experience for technical design experience for transportation projects is beneficial
  • EI or ability to obtain
  • Proficient in MS Office and MicroStation
  • Experience with MicroStation and GeoPack is a benefit.
  • Experience developing submissions per technical guidelines. Experience with DOT standards and requirements is beneficial.
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects.
  • Excellent communication skills
