Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:


Overall strategic utility planning for the site through variable term execution of cleanroom piping and exhaust distribution concept development and design in a virtual factory. Support of facility equipment layout, hook-up design package generation and review, 3D object development, utility infrastructure analysis, and process management.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Lead team of direct Samsung 3D MEP designers and team of upto 100 contractors
  • Oversee design output and quality of equipment utility installation 3D models and 2D drawings
  • Ability to read and understand AutoCAD equipment MEP
  • Develop general utility expertise with competence in all categories of utility design
  • Interact closely with members of Facility Services, Unit Parts, GCS, PCS, EHS, Line Planning, and Infra
  • Partner with project stakeholders to adapt existing process to site-specific requirements
  • Represent the department in meetings with external support organizations such as tool vendors, construction teams, hook-up fabricators, and software developers
  • Direct contract designers to execute design packages as needed
  • Review and redline equipment utility installation deliverables prior to IFC
  • Understand equipment and layout issues in design
  • Report project-specific updates on a weekly basis to team members both internal and external to 3D design
  • Review and approve design and drafting standards
  • Review and approve design specifications and work guides
  • Identify and assign potential quality improvement initiatives to direct reports
  • Review and approval of PCRs and RFIs
  • Oversee workload, objective management, and performance of 8-10 direct reports
  • Keep team informed on higher-level discussions and organizational direction

Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

  • Minimum 2-year CAD/Drafting degree
  • 2 to 6 years of design experience; semiconductor facility support preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools

  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards, IBC, and other codes and standards applicable to industrial facility design and construction
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design
  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD
  • Experience managing and leading projects including design, specification, and construction administration
  • Ability to read and understand design plans, shop drawings, and work in progress
  • Familiarity with design and installation of facility equipment, or design and construction of industrial buildings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills are required to communicate technical content to various departments
  • Aptitude for documentation and data analysis using MS Office programs, including Project, Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Ability to work overtime / on non-scheduled days as required
  • Reliable and punctual attendance is required
