Safe Alliance - Children's Program Manager
The Children's Program Manager at the shelter supports the agency by providing hope and healing to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault by contributing to program development and supervising direct service providers, helping to create a supportive and healing residential community for children and families.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Client Care
Using trauma-informed, client-centered approach to:
- Work with Director of Shelter Services to ensure availability, develop procedures for and manage the delivery of developmentally appropriate client services to children residing within the shelter by assisting in the management of the daily operations of 120 bed residential facility and hotel program.
- Work with Director of Shelter Services to develop, implement and supervise child and parent programming specific to the changing needs of shelter residents experiencing Domestic Violence.
- Work with all shelter staff to implement and provide holistic, developmentally appropriate formal and informal supports to assist families fleeing domestic violence.
- Oversee the development and delivery of developmentally appropriate programming that promotes social and emotional growth in children.
- Oversee the development and delivery of appropriate parent education classes, working to strengthen relationships between parents and children.
- Recruit, train and supervise qualified staff and interns, working specifically to support staff and mitigate potential impact of secondary or vicarious trauma.
- In partnership with Children's Program staff, implement a trauma informed childcare model for families residing within the shelter.
- Ensure the fidelity of the CARE model and role-model skills across all programs in the shelter.
- Ensure the availability of crisis intervention services, develop procedures for and manage the delivery of child/family specific services.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning services to support residents in person or by telephone as necessary including responding to hotline calls and providing on-call support to Shelter staff.
- Resolve residential conflicts while maintaining a safe environment.
- Work in conjunction with key community partners; ensuring a collaborative approach to child development.
- Identify gaps in service delivery and/or barriers to service delivery, and recommend system advocacy priorities to Director of Shelter Services.
- Address client complaints/grievances as appropriate.
Administration
- Maintain accurate, up to date client, program and agency records, including timely reporting of monthly statistics.
- Work to ensure goals and outcomes for programs are met. Record and report program statistics accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that all shelter staff receive training needed to ensure a holistic support for children and families residing within the shelter.
- Assist Director in researching, writing and managing grant reporting and grantor relationships.
- Assist Director in managing the shelter budget.
- Ensure that employee time is entered into timekeeper system accurately; timesheets are according to established deadlines; and office is staffed appropriately.
- Adhere to agency procedures concerning Critical Incident Reports and Client Satisfaction surveys and participate in the Quality Assurance process.
Stewardship
- Promote an agency culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
- Work with shelter leadership to ensure a collaborative approach to childcare; ensuring child care is available to support agency programs, and be prepared to assist when needed.
- Build community partnerships to ensure that shelter services are meeting the needs of the entire family unit; partner with other agencies to ensure staff maintain relevant training and skills to ensure a holistic approach to work with families.
- Increase community awareness of victimization, prevention, and available resources through public speaking and media requests. Ensure staff is trained to handle these requests.
- Support agency mission by participating personally and ensure staff involvement in agency and community meetings and committees as requested by Director. Attend Leadership Team meetings.
- Promote and maintain professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Work with Director to identify program development opportunities and implement new program services.
Professional Development
- Contribute to quality services by staying informed of developments and trends in the area of trauma and victimization, especially as it relates to the connections of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and child maltreatment in child development.
- Maintain and develop skills and knowledge by attending training; especially as it relates to child development, victimization, and trauma; ensure licensure and certifications are up to date as needed for the job and the office.
Position Requirements
- Ability to work on a rotating on-call basis.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule. Work hours vary and include evening and weekend work.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, twist, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- The worker is required to have the ability for close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, operate agency vehicle and ability to adjust focus to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection), to determine accuracy and thoroughness of work assignment.
- Position requires ability to climb, reach, balance, stoop, stand, kneel, crouch, walk, stand, finger, grasp, lift, pull, push, grasp, sit, twist, talk, hear, and perform repeated motions. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system and exposed to infectious diseases.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Safe Alliance may still be subject to government mandated vaccine requirements and testing as outlined by the OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard. All applicants must be willing to submit proof of vaccination status or test weekly.
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Child Development or related field; Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
- 4 years related experience.
- Valid Driver's License, automobile insurance.
- Experience working with children.
- Experience working with trauma and victims preferred; especially children.
- Residential Experience preferred.
- Spanish speaking preferred-if hired as a Spanish speaking staff member, candidate must be fluent in understanding, speaking, and writing in Spanish.
