Responsibilities:

  • Instructing selected individuals through the successful completion of training and testing according to company guidelines and legal requirements

  • Providing ongoing training and performance evaluations for all Drivers

  • Performing Driver Orientation in conjunction with Operations Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, Site Supervisors, and/or the General Manager

  • Responsible for the collection and analysis of statistical data pertinent to the Safety and Risk Management in accordance with Department of Transportation and company programs. You will be our subject matter expert related to all safety and risk management metrics through data reporting, assessment and analytics. In this role, you will develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients. You will conduct research and make recommendations related to all aspects of Safety and Risk Management.

  • Responding to personal injury and vehicle accidents, completing on-scene investigations, and preparing/submitting corresponding reports to the corporate office

  • Investigating customer service complaints relative to safety issues and take corrective action

  • Assisting management in the administration of the Customer Service Center’s entire safety program, including monthly Safety Meetings and the Accident Review Committee

  • Administering and maintaining Company Safe Driver Award Program

  • Documenting and maintaining all training records as required by State and Federal regulations and Company policies

  • Providing notices to Drivers of upcoming expiration dates of various documents and ensuring their renewal (physicals, drivers licenses, school bus certificates, and First Aid certificates)

  • Obtaining, reviewing, and monitoring Driver Abstracts from state agencies for all Drivers

  • Administering and maintaining pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing program

  • Month end reporting to executive team and group.

  • Manage the weekly review process of accidents and injuries reported into Sedgwick (Third Party Administrator) and monthly review of injuries reported to other TPAs.

  • Fulfill ad hoc and information request from field and corporate safety team.

  • Conduct comparative analysis of historic accident and injury data/result

  • Track, categorize, and process accidents, incident reports and corrective actions in the safety reporting database.

  • Performs research on injuries and incidents and makes recommendations for corrective action or improvements.

  • Provides management with detailed analyses to identify deficiencies in safety performance milestones throughout the organization.

  • Responsible for gathering information from multiple sources and databases into an integrated safety performance report, to assist business units in evaluating the health of the organization.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, some college including education/training courses preferred

  • 2 years of Driver training and/or Driver safety experience preferred; 2 years of transportation industry experience preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and transportation related software

  • Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and group presentation skills

  • Well-developed multi-tasking and time management skills

  • Compliance with state requirements

  • Proven ability to conduct all activities in accordance with the highest ethical standards

  • No preventable accidents in the past 12 months

  • Acceptable driving performance for the past 36 months
