What Will Your Job Look Like?
The Safety & Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and conducting training, such as recertification, monthly safety meeting, and remedial training, as well as assisting with development and implementation of training plans. This position will also assist with the development of training in other departments (i.e Road Supervisors, Dispatch) as their duties relate to safety and training objectives. The Safety & Training Coordinator will provide support for the Safety and Training Manager and Safety and Training Department while also ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations, and Company and Client guidelines, policies and expectations.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and assist with the design, develop and implementation of initial and recurrent training programs
Teach safety culture awareness training
Teach annual recertification training
Lead initial and recurrent training programs
Oversee the safety culture and conduct monthly safety meetings
Deliver proper classroom, behind the wheel and mobility management training in accordance with contractual and company requirements
Lead annual and multi-year training programs
Oversee corporate safety incentives and programs effectively and consistently
Assist in overseeing the federally mandated Drug and Alcohol program
Support the safety action plan and safety management system initiatives
Conduct training needs assessment in consultation with other MTM Transit location leaders
Investigate customer service complaints, relative to safety issues, and take appropriate corrective action
Promote employee self-responsibility to achieve all safety goals and training requirements
Ensure all new hires meet minimum qualifications for each division including, background and MVR checks
Ensure all safety manuals, programs and policies and practices are current and meet the needs of the operating divisions; updating as appropriate
Help support all related audits including those conducted by the Company, the Client, internal staff members and state and federal regulatory agencies
Review, determine and respond to all vehicular, passenger and employee accidents/incidents, indicating the root cause and preventability, identifying potential trends to be addressed in future training efforts
Schedule and teach new employee orientation
Execute periodic performance evaluations for all Operators
Attend various meetings including those hosted by the Client as an ambassador for MTM Transit
What You’ll need:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
1 year experience in transit operations, transit safety or teaching
2+ years in transportation training or teaching experience
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and DOT physical and maintain physical throughout employment
Even better if you have...
CDL license with a passenger endorsement
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
Knowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations – FTA and DOT to include all corporate programs
Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments
Ability to work independently and objectively
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Familiar with windows-based computer operating systems and Microsoft Office packages
Regular attendance is required

Hourly Rate: $ 30
