We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager who will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Company’s safety program.

Annual Compensation:

$95,000 -- $125,000 - Salary commensurate with experience.

Work Locations:

Main office and yard location in Hayward, construction sites in the San Francisco Bay Area (mostly South Bay and Peninsula)

The ideal candidate has several years of safety management in construction and possess a team-oriented attitude eager to consistently improve the Company’s safety record.

You have:

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation regulations and best practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships and trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering, or related field is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Three or more years of increasing responsibilities in a safety department supporting a multi-site organization or equivalent or relevant job experience.
  • Demonstrated success in improving safety performance.
  • Strong self-motivation skills.
  • Bilingual (Eng/Spa) preferred.

What you will be doing:

  • Interpret safety rules, regulations, and procedures for management and employees.
  • Ensure business is compliant with state-specific workers compensation regulations for all states the business operates in.
  • Assist with developing an appropriate strategy and response to workers compensation claims, focusing on prevention, recovery and return to work.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and on-going maintenance of safety programs.
  • Establish, track, and improve safety KPIs in alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Implements and coordinates Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) activities including OSHA (300 & 300A) logs.
  • Develop and grow relationships with customer safety departments.
  • Contact customers to collect all site-specific safety related information needed to conduct the job safely and in accordance with customer expectations.
  • Create Emergency Action Plans/Safe Work Plans.
  • Partner with business leadership to drive proper safe behavior and create a strong culture to safety throughout the company.
  • Responsible for timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company standards.
  • Investigate all incidents for root-cause development to ensure unsafe conditions/behavior is not repeated.
  • Reinforce policies and procedures that support the company's goals, the operations needs and achievement of safety results. Support the company's safety standards and discipline guidelines.
  • Assist with organization/maintenance of support files/records for all incidents/injuries, including general liability, auto liability, workers’ compensation, and all other applicable claims.
  • Deliver training/education in the field for compliance to all safety related matters.
  • Work with government and regulatory agencies - OSHA, DOT, etc. during site inspections in all matters relating to safety.
  • Work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization; develop strong working relationships with field employees.
  • Assist Safety Director with insurance company loss control/safety consulting services to support and improve safety processes.
  • Lead by example in terms of all safety standards at all times.
  • Conduct all assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
