Job Title: Safety Specialist/RCT (DRUM)

Location(s): Grand Junction, CO

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range: $61,000.00 - $66,000.00/yr. (The anticipated starting salary pay range of $61,000.00 - $66,000.00/yr. is based on minimum requirements for this position. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent). The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant's education, training, and experience.)

RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for a Safety Specialist/RCT who will support the defense related uranium mines (DRUM) and safety.

This position is required to travel and be in the field between 50% to 75% of the time.

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:
  • Conduct work according to approved work plan, ensuring procedures are followed.
  • Assist in evaluating data, reviewing reports, and writing report sections.
  • Work with office personnel in planning field activities.
  • Support other field data collection activities such as collecting coordinates of mine features with GPS, soil sampling, Radiological walk over surveying, occasional water sampling.
  • Maintain detailed understanding of unique DRUM specific hazards and safety concerns.
  • Immediately raise issues or concerns regarding safety and health symptoms. (i.e., dehydration, heat stress, etc.).
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are adequate and maintained appropriately to perform safety and health duties since the project is working in remote location.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Work experience, skills, and capabilities needed:
  • Possess or develop the skills to safely drive off-road, haul and load trailers, and safely operate a utility trail vehicle. (i.e., ATV, UTV)
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills.
Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to pursue Department of Energy Certified RCT, after provided training.
  • Must be willing to pursue additional safety certifications.
  • Knowledge and use of radiation and safety equipment preferred.
Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:

  • Prior safety and health field experience.
  • Knowledge and use of radiation and safety equipment.
  • Safety certification such as CSP or OHST.
  • Prior Radiological technician experience.
  • Completion of Wilderness survival course.
  • Previous field work in environmental conditions (rugged back country and mountainous areas), sampling, remediation background.
Required Education and Years of Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
The employee exerts up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Able to travel on uneven ground for several miles (10-20 miles) per day under adverse weather conditions. Much of the traveling is up and down hills. Able to work in hot, cold, windy, and sometimes wet conditions. Able to carry up 50 pounds of gear in the field.

The employee is regularly required to handle or feel, to reach, and communicate. The employee is frequently required to move about and maintain various positions. The employee must have the ability to perceive the environment and observe technical material and emails.
