Job Title: School Age Counselor
FREE YMCA MEMBERSHIP
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Behavior and Mental Wellness Director and Senior Youth Development Director the School Age Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with the supervision, administration, curriculum, program, compliance, supplies, and safety of the school age program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Responsible for scheduling and coverage of the school age childcare and summer BREAK programs. Serves as a coach for the team and leads in appreciation, recognition, and retention efforts. Visits each site and shift weekly when not required in ratio.
2. Provides oversight of off-site locations, ensuring storage is adequate, clean, and supplies are plentiful and in order.
3. DCF Regulatory Compliance
4. Provides administrative support functions to the Youth Development team, including but not limited to hiring screens, school age staff meetings, and registration support.
5. Responsible for preparation and delivery of required off site materials, including but not limited to snack, registration paperwork, and rosters.
Other duties as assigned contingent upon hours available weekly
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a least 21 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience as a child care teacher or center director in a licensed child care or other approved setting.
- Prior to beginning work completed one of the following
- Four non-credit department approved courses in early childhood education or its equivalent and within three years of assuming the position the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
- Four courses for credit in early childhood education from an institution of higher education and within three years of assuming the position, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
- An associate degree in early childhood education or child care from an institution of higher education and within three years of assuming the position, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
- A bachelor degree in early childhood education from an institution of higher education or license from Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to act as a kindergarten, pre-kindergarten or early childhood (regular or special education) teacher and within three years of assuming the position, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
- Certificate from The Registry for Level 14 or higher (Indicating qualifications are met for a Director of a child care center over 50 children). The YMCA will pay for enrollment. (Please see DFS 251.05(1)(e)2 for more information.)
- Prior to employment complete the following: Child Care Abuse Prevention for staff and prevention for reporting, Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Training and SIDS training.
- The following with in the first 30 days: CPR, First Aide, and Blood Borne Pathogens Training.
- In-Service training to maintain licensing certification.
7. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and handle numerous projects concurrently.
8. Knowledge of the Wisconsin Child Care Licensing requirements.

· Have full range of body movement including activities such as getting down on the floor to work with a child, running, jumping, and participation in outdoor playground activities; Capable of performing essential functions in all elements of weather;
· Effectively communicate information of YMCA programs to members and participants.
· Tolerate noise levels associated with large groups of children
