Job Description:
Provide safe, courteous, and timely bus transportation between home and school for students.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Drive buses and transport students to and from school and/or co-curricular activities
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and its special equipment.
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required by the Local school system.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with school staff and the public.
- Complete legible and accurate required reports in the prescribed manner on a timely basis.
- Provide maximum safety for passengers while on the bus and during loading and unloading.
- Maintain orderly conduct of student passengers.
- Maintain routes and schedules planned by the School System personnel.
- Attend all In-service Safety meetings required by the State and Local School system.
- Deliver bus to Fleet maintenance facility as directed by a pre-arranged monthly schedule for bus service.
- Keep the assigned bus clean and prepared for monthly inspections
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Dependability, punctuality and attendance are essential for your daily bus driver responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must provide a seven-year motor vehicle report. Major traffic citations may exclude consideration. Minor traffic citations such as parking tickets are not considered. Must pass a pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Must pass a pre-employment and annual physical exam (as a minimum the applicant shall have no mental, nervous, organic or condition that would interfere with safe driving; applicant shall have no loss of foot or hand; vision and hearing shall meet the FL. Certificates, Licenses, Permits:
Selected applicants must have a valid Class A or B, CDL Florida License with Passenger Endorsement and School Bus Endorsement.
