Licensed Reading Specialist

Position: Licensed Reading Specialist

Department: School of Education/Elementary, Collaborative (SPED), and Secondary Education

Immediate Supervisor: Department Chair

Status: Full Time

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

● Teach elementary pedagogy and content courses

● Teach program and departmental courses

● Conduct research and scholarly pursuits within the department

● Perform service activities to include advisement and committee assignments

● Participate in structured real-world experiences in P-12 school setting(s)

● Attend regular departmental and School meetings

● Serve on committees

● Monitor and evaluate student outcomes through informal and formative assessments

● Communicate and interact with students effectively and consistently

● Develop and select instructional plans and materials to meet student needs

● Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and best practices

Qualifications

● Ph.D or Ed.D specializing in Reading for Elementary and Secondary Education

● Successful teaching experience at the P-12 level along with teaching experience within a multicultural environment

● Reading certification should be reflected on candidate’s teaching certificate
