The Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center (AMESC) is seeking qualified applicants for a School Psychologist position for the Trimble Local School District. The Mission of the Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center is to work in partnership with the community to improve student achievement, build capacity, and raise expectations for all individuals in our service region.Posting Date: December 16, 2022Closing Date: Until filledStart Date: Immediately or no later than August 1, 2023 (the start of the 23/24 School Year)Qualifications: Master's Degree in Educational Psychology or equivalentAppropriate State of Ohio certifications/licenseValid Ohio drivers licenseMust pass BCI and FBI background checks Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work effectively with othersAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writingEffective, active listening skillsOrganizational and problem-solving skillsSpecialized skill in evaluation procedures for student academic/behavioral problemsBasic skills in counseling and consultationKnowledge of educational psychologyEffective time management Essential Functions: Available to staff and parents for consultationCounsel individually and in groups with children and students with disabilities and/or their parentsProvide screening programs for childrenProvide referral to and consultation with outside service agenciesConduct individual psycho-educational evaluations of children referred to the Pupil Services Department; interpret findings, when appropriate, to parents, teachers, and other school personnel and qualified community agencies through conferences and written reportsParticipate in the identification and placement of children with disabilitiesRecommend appropriate classroom management strategies for behavior managementImplement new practices or methods in the area of school psychologyAttend meetings and in-services as required by Superintendent/BoardMeet the confidentiality requirements of FERPA, district policy, and professional codes of conductProvide the results of the psycho-educational evaluation for consideration in the development of IEPs for each studentConduct comprehensive evaluations of children suspected to have a disabilityAssume case manager responsibility for individual students for the assessment phase and evaluation team report writing portions of child studyMaintain accurate and complete records as requiredProvide guidance to students to promote their educational developmentCollaborate with colleaguesAttend educational field trips as appropriateRefer students suspected of learning difficulties to the intervention assistance teamAssist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing student lifeObserve ethics of the teaching professionKeep abreast of all rules and regulations regarding special education standardsWrite report summaries in parent-friendly language; communicate clearly with parents/guardians of all educational levels Other Duties and Responsibilities: Promote good public relationsProvide mental health activities for children within the scope of school-based practiceMaintain Medicaid logsServe as a role model for studentsRespond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate mannerEstablish and maintain cooperative professional relationshipsAssist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other educational materialsParticipate in committees, study teams, and co-curricular activities as agreed uponParticipate in the MTSS processMaintain and improve professional competence by attending professional seminars, workshops, etc. to keep current on relevant issuesCounsel, advise, encourage, and motivate studentsPerform other duties as assigned Compensation: Per the established salary scheduleApplication Process: Copy and paste the following into your browser: https://forms.gle/mhTmK4eu2hQMN7VU7Applicants should complete the online job application and provide a cover letter, resume outlining qualifications, and three professional references.
